Build 27808 for Windows 11 adds Task Manager changes in Canary Channel

Windows 11 build 27808 is now rolling out for users with devices enrolled in the Canary Channel of the Windows Insider Program. This update is part of the version 24H2 development and introduces changes to the Task Manager and various fixes.

According to the official changes, Windows 11 build 27808 ships an updated version of the Task Manager that makes CPU usage information consistent. You’ll now see the same CPU workload across all pages, matching industry standards.

If you need the previous CPU value, you can show the “CPU Utility” column, which is located in the “Details” tab.

As part of the fixes, Microsoft is pushing fixes for printers, encryption, graphics, search, and more:

  • Gaming and printing: Fixed a bug causing potential Blue Screen of Death for some games and apps.
  • Search: Fixed a bug causing the search window to appear blank when searching from the Taskbar due to a background crash.
  • Graphics: Fixed an issue that could cause Settings to crash when adding a color profile from the “Display” page, and there’s another fix for a bug that could cause color profiles to not load correctly after waking the computer from sleep.
  • Power: Fixed a bug where the colors in the new battery icon were not displayed correctly.
  • BitLocker: Fixed a BitLocker loop issue and bug when running the Get-BitLockerVolume command. In addition, this update improves the performance of loading early boot UI, including BitLocker PIN, BitLocker Recovery key, and boot menu screens.

Furthermore, starting with build 27808, Hyper-V should work normally without errors.

Finally, this update includes some known issues for Copilot+ PCs and a “d3d9.dll” crash, which is causing multiple apps to fail.

Installation process

To download and install this Windows 11 build, enroll your device in the Canary Channel through the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section. Once you enroll the computer in the program, you can download the build from the “Windows Update” settings by turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option and clicking the “Check for Updates” button.
