Microsoft is working on a new feature that will automatically allow Xbox Series X, S, and One consoles to upload screen captures and video clips to OneDrive. The backup feature is currently being tested on consoles enrolled in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead channels.
According to a new report from The Verge, Microsoft is adding a new wizard to help users with the syncing processes to OneDrive. The wizard also offers options to upload existing captures and clips, but you don’t have to upload everything since it’s possible to choose your entire collection or items individually.
When you turn on the feature, Xbox will automatically upload your future clips to the “Videos” folder and the screenshots to the “Pictures” folder, making them available instantly on any device (Windows 11, 10, macOS, iOS, Android, and Linux) that supports accessing OneDrive through the web or application.
The upload works in the background, so if you have many items to sync, the queue can take up to a few days to finish. Also, at the time of this writing, it’s possible to upload 4K resolution clips, but it’s something that will come in the future.
Microsoft isn’t saying when this new feature will be available, but it’s expected to ship with one of the Xbox updates in the coming months.
